Pattern Overview
I don’t know about you, but 2020 really helped me see just how important it is to hold our loves ones close to us and how hard it is to have to keep your distance. Love Letters is for all of them, near and far.
This quilt comes in two variations. There is the curved-piecing version shown in the amazing Thatched line by Moda in red, blue and grey, as well as options to stay curve-free if you aren’t quite ready to tackle that technique. The curve-free option is shown in vibrant Moda Bella solids, always a fun way to play with color. Love Letters is an intermediate pattern, but can be accomplished by anyone who sets their mind to it! Techniques include mostly traditional piecing, a couple simple foundation paper-piecing sections, and two small hearts to applique on your envelopes.
I designed this quilt with Valentines Day in mind, but the more I thought about it, the more I decided it really lends itself well to so many situations. It would be a great quilt for loved ones who live far away or to give to someone leaving the nest for the first time to go to college. It serves as a reminder that even though they might not be with us at all times, our loved ones are in our hearts and minds, and that will never change.
The quilt measures 58.5 x 69.5 inches, and is the perfect size to snuggle up on the couch with your special someone. The pattern includes fully illustrated with step-by-step instructions for 7 blocks to help you visual piecing, printable templates, swatch names for the fabrics used in the sample quilts, and fabric requirements for yardage or scrappy if you want to pick from your fat quarter stash.
